At Her Feet Was Her Footloose Man

Marianne Faithfull was born on December 29, 1946. She was the angel faced singer that had her big break with the song "As Tears Go By". She has also been an actress since 1964, starring in movies such as The Girl on a Motorcycle  and Hamlet.
Her hit song "As Tears Go By" was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. In 1966 she moved in with her son Nicholas, from a previous marriage, with Anita Pallenberg and Brian Jones. At this time she  also started dating Mick Jagger.
Mick and Marianne dated from 1966 till 1970. Marianne and Mick became one of swinging London's most famous couples. Marianne introduced Mick to the high society night life and various literatures that she read. She was sitting on the side of the stage during the Concert in Hyde Park in 1969.
In 1967, She became notorious for her involvement in the drug bust at Keith Richards' house Redlands. While raiding the house, British police found Faithfull in nothing but a fur rug. Keith and Mick were sent to jail for drug possession and Marianne was bashed by the British press who called her a slut and a horrible mother.
Marianne ended her relationship with Mick in 1970 and lost custody of her son that same year. She life began going in a downward spiral, living on the streets of London and addicted to heroin. It wouldn't be until 1979 that her career and life would get back in order with the release of her album Broken English.
Marianne was a great influence on Jagger. He wrote the songs "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "I Got The Blues" about her. The chorus of "Wild Horses" (Wild horses couldn't drag me away) is said to be based on a phrase Faithfull uttered after coming out of a coma after an overdose from sleeping pills. The song "Sympathy For The Devil" was in part inspired by the book The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, a book which Marianne introduced to Jagger. She co wrote the song "Sister Morphine".
Since, she has maintained a successful music career, releasing several albums over the past 30 years. She has also become a legend in her own right, having two books written out her. Jerry Hall, Jagger's second wife, has said "Out of all the girlfriends he's ever had, he loved her the most". She and Anita Pallenberg are friends to this day.

  2. Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I’m very glad to see such fantastic information being shared freely out there.
